Marketing Strategy + AI Discoverability

Align market perception with what your business really is.

You know what makes your business valuable. When you explain it in person, people get it. Transpose Consulting helps your marketing make that same case when you're not in the room, and shows you how your business is represented when customers research with AI.

Founded by Jessica Steigerwald, with 20+ years in marketing at Apple, DocuSign and Wind River.

Where it gets stuck

What's getting in the way of your next customer?

Maybe your website doesn't do your business justice, or the inquiries you get come from the wrong people. Maybe referrals have carried you this far and you need another way to bring in business. Or your company has evolved, and the way the market sees it hasn't caught up.

Whether you run an owner-led business or lead an established team, the sign is often the same: the offering is strong, but the response isn't what you expected.

People don't understand what makes us different.

Clarify who you serve, the problems you solve, and why someone should choose you.

We're doing marketing, but we don't know what's working.

Assess your current efforts and build a focused plan around your business priorities.

Services

A clear place to start. Support where you need it.

01

Positioning and Messaging

Make your value easier to understand.

Get clear on your audience, what matters to them, and what sets your business apart. Then I turn that clarity into the words you'll use: website copy, sales materials and the way you describe your business in every conversation.

Work can include

  • Ideal customer definition and positioning
  • Core messages and supporting proof
  • Website copy and sales materials, written for you

A good starting point when you're launching or changing direction, attracting the wrong customers, or struggling to explain why your business is the right choice.

02

AI Discoverability

Understand how your business shows up when people ask AI for answers.

Customers now ask AI tools to compare their options, and the answers draw on far more than your website.

My SIGNAL assessment tests the questions your customers are likely to ask directly in selected AI platforms, then examines the sources and information that may be shaping the answers, such as your own content, business profiles, reviews, directories, analyst coverage, press and other independent sources where relevant.

You receive

  • Documented results from direct testing, including citations and how competitors are described
  • Likely causes, kept clearly separate from what the evidence shows
  • A prioritized action plan for your content, profiles and outside sources

A good starting point when you want to understand your AI visibility, your business is being described inaccurately, or you need to decide where to focus.

AI answers vary by platform, question and timing. The assessment documents what we observe and gives practical recommendations. It does not guarantee placement.

03

Focused Marketing Plan

Know what to do next, and where to put your time and budget.

Bring your business goals, current marketing and available resources into one practical plan. Identify the audiences, messages, channels and activities worth prioritizing over the next 90 days.

Work can include

  • Review of current marketing and customer touchpoints
  • Audience, channel and campaign priorities
  • A 90-day action plan with measures of progress, and help launching the first steps

A good starting point when you have plenty of ideas but need direction, are preparing to launch an offer, or want to make better use of a limited budget.

04

Fractional Marketing Leadership and Advisory

Senior leadership that gets the work done.

A senior marketing leader who sets priorities, directs the work and stays hands-on where it matters.

Work can include

  • Setting marketing priorities and plans
  • Directing your team, freelancers or agency
  • Managing delivery so the work gets done
  • Hands-on campaign execution and writing where needed

A good starting point when you need sustained marketing leadership, more senior expertise on the team, or support through a period of change.

Engagements range from focused projects to ongoing support, including hands-on execution. Scope and fees are agreed before work begins.

Example

What an AI discoverability review can uncover

Here is how an AI discoverability review works in practice.

Illustrative example

A regional IT services firm has spent ten years building a strong cybersecurity practice for manufacturers. Its leadership wants to know why it rarely comes up when buyers research security providers.

What we observed

Asked to recommend security providers for mid-size manufacturers in the region, the AI tools tested named three competitors. When the firm did appear, it was described as general IT support.

Evidence examined

The homepage still led with help-desk services, and security work sat on one page with no customer examples. Business profiles listed outdated categories. Most independent coverage described the company's original services, and reviews rarely mentioned security.

Recommended action

Lead the website with security for manufacturers and add anonymized customer examples. Update profile categories and descriptions, ask recent security clients for reviews that describe the work, and pursue credible industry listings. Retest the same questions after the changes are in place.

This example was created for illustration and does not describe a specific client.

About

Meet Jessica Steigerwald

Big-company experience. Personal attention to your business.

I founded Transpose Consulting to help businesses connect what they offer with what customers understand and choose.

Over more than 20 years at Apple, DocuSign and Wind River, I've led work across brand, messaging, integrated campaigns, executive engagement, customer marketing and partner programs. I've built functions from scratch, led teams of up to 20, and helped bring complex offerings to market.

That work has always included smaller businesses. Many of the customers and partners I worked with at Apple and DocuSign were small businesses, from independent training centers to resellers, and I've built programs from the ground up with lean teams and tight budgets.

At DocuSign, I found 15 separate go-to-market efforts running in parallel and made the case to the CMO for a unified campaign model. It became how the organization operated.

Based in Alameda, California. Working with clients across the Bay Area and remotely.
